Gazette – Sharing My Views on Health and Longevity

From the moment we are born, we embark on the journey towards death. Some people traverse this path swiftly, while others tread more slowly. Some find the journey comfortable, while others endure hardships and suffering. Aging and mortality are inevitable aspects of human existence. From a scientific standpoint, many diseases are genetically predisposed, while others arise from accidents or untreated illnesses. Science has increasingly shown that humans can exert control over the emergence of diseases.

I am someone who fears death. I always feel that unless it’s an accident like a plane crash, which is almost beyond our control, I entrust my life to the pilot whenever I board a plane. I’m particularly cautious when driving and visiting places with poor security or high crime rates. I avoid attending large events during holidays, especially considering the high incidence of shootings in the United States, and I refrain from staying out late from hotels in areas with high crime rates, such as some parts of Mexico.

I undergo physical check-ups annually, sometimes twice yearly, depending on circumstances. A recent report revealed higher uric acid levels, and while the doctor recommended medication, I opted for dietary treatment, such as consuming low-purine foods. I believe that all Western medicine comes with side effects and adverse effects on organs like the liver. I have never accepted vaccinations (except for the COVID-19 vaccine) or taken vitamin supplements. People often feel that taking supplements is beneficial or makes them feel secure. Still, I believe nature provides many foods containing different vitamins, nutrients, and minerals tailored to heal various ailments. According to numerous studies, balanced nutrition is particularly crucial. Most illnesses today stem from excessive consumption of sugar, processed foods, oils, genetically modified foods, chemically contaminated foods, and potentially carcinogenic foods. People today die from unhealthy eating, not from starvation.

Recently, I met a friend who has visibly lost weight. Upon inquiry, I learned that his brother had diabetes and had to have his foot amputated. He needed to undergo tests and necessary treatments as well as lose weight. I also have an American friend who had his leg amputated due to diabetes. The average lifespan in the United States has decreased over the past four years due to deaths from heart disease and diabetes.

Our body’s cells are intelligent, continuously sending signals to our brains craving sugar, rice, noodles, and other carbohydrates while signaling hunger. Many people succumb to overeating, unaware that indulging recklessly comes with consequences. I control what I eat and avoid consuming things I shouldn’t, as long-term consumption of unhealthy foods results in consequences. I have smoked and drank alcohol for over forty years, but with age, I’ve learned to moderate, indulging only on appropriate occasions and knowing when to stop. Longevity requires health, and health requires discipline.
